Every day, every animal

It’s because of people like you that we can give them a warm bed to curl up on, and enrichment treats to brighten their stay.

You help provide them with vital veterinary care and patient behavioural support.

You help cover the costs of microchipping, vaccination and desexing, in preparation for adoption.

There is still lots of work to do. In the next three months we’re expecting around 500 animals to arrive at our shelter in Weston, ACT. We need your help to get them ready to find their forever homes.

Every dollar you give will make a difference thank you for your kindness!

Help animals like George

George arrived at RSPCA ACT weighing only 400 grams, with his umbilocal cord still attached. He’d been discarded like rubbish and was literally discovered in a bin.

He was cold and fragile.  We wanted nothing more than to help little George pull through.

Our Kennels Team Lead, highly skilled in hand-raising neonatal pups, took him home for around-the-clock care. For four weeks she bottle-fed him, toileted him and watched him with eagle eyes.

His journey was difficult, consisting of weekly rechecks, medication, antibiotics and iron supplements to help him stabilise.

At four weeks, George ‘graduated’ to another staff foster home, the perfect place for a singleton pup to learn how to “dog” alongside other dogs, kids and cats.

As he neared eight weeks, we noticed vision concerns. An obstacle course and specialist assessment confirmed he’ll need bilateral cataract surgery when he’s six months old. Fortunately we have found him a new home and he’ll receive the operation and care he needs.

None of this would have been possible if it weren’t for kind donations from people like you.
